Even a weak dollar in 2006 could not dampen the enthusiasm of American tourists to Europe. Thirteen million Americans visited Europe in 2006 and this was a 4% increase over the previous year. Short trips to Europe are becoming popular; incredibly US citizens, especially those on the East Coast are heading to Europe. Also, wanderlust driven Americans are venturing away from the main tourist destinations in a bid to discover the real Europe.
